Cthulhu Nation is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Play Game). Developed in 2005 by Twisted Empire, it is a point and click action adventure role-play game based on the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.
The concept and principles behind 'Cthulhu Nation' are simple - take the standard RPG board game format and take it to the next level - a computer Internet game. Whilst many other MMORPG developers have jumped on the bandwagon with cute 3D style imagery and effects, Twisted Empire wanted a more retro look and feel to the game. Using old photographs and images to portray the period of 1924, the company wanted to concentrate their development on strong quests, historical references, and developing H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The game is intentionally 2D to give a more authentic and natural feel for the more traditional RPG players. These elements, along with constantly evolving interactive skills and gameplay, have created a truly unique experience for the Internet games player.
The game can be played at many levels, from simple exploring and creature attacks to more advanced and complex character development, Guilds, Research and quests. However, the main purpose of Cthulhu Nation is to provide fun and a certain element of escapism for the player.
